Our Meet the Experts series introduces and spotlights the expertise of key members of the Interleasing team. We sat down with Tracey-Lee Herbert, who has recently joined Interleasing’s Client Services team as National Manager.
How long have you been working in asset finance/fleet solutions for?
This is my first role in the industry. I started with Interleasing in March 2024.
What does your role entail and what excites you about it?
I’m responsible for all the Relationship Officers across the country. What excites me about my role is my team. We’re building something incredibly wonderful, with solid foundations within the team and across the country. Moving away from state-based teams to more of a national structure is an exciting opportunity.
We’ve set up many business efficiencies and made inroads towards greater consistencies across our processes, procedures and compliance.
I’m also excited about Interleasing’s current growth phase and what the future holds.
What are some of the challenges that you help solve for clients?
With clients, there’s never a “one size fits all” approach, so each of our clients have their own issues or circumstances, and range in size of fleet and range of vehicle.
Nonetheless, we need to offer a level of consistent service to all our clients and solve issues for them, by being responsive, as proactive as we can (even though we can’t predict everything). We need to ensure that we are there for clients, they feel heard and see value through the delivery from the team.
What are the biggest opportunities for fleet managers/finance/procurement?
Sometimes it’s not always about the cost or investment or price on a tender - sometimes it's about the overall service proposition. You want to look for a partner who can enable a better return on investment for you. Look beyond just the price - think about your short-term requirements and long-term goals.
What opportunities are there for Interleasing?
I think the opportunities for Interleasing are endless, as long as we keep developing and growing our team. We want to continue our growth, whilst continuing to understand client needs – not just hearing but listening to what they have to say and helping map out what their needs are.
What future trends do fleet managers need to be aware of?
From what I’m hearing, every business wants to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions; for any government tender, questions about your carbon footprint will always be asked. Fleet managers should follow the trends in the EV and hybrid space. Whilst I am still learning more about other trends, EVs have stood out for me, and I have one too! Telematics is becoming increasingly important and in an upward trend.
What makes Interleasing different?
The people make Interleasing different! I've met some very tenured staff in the business and in the industry. We have such a dynamic, hands-on and approachable MD in Adam - you don’t necessarily get that from most businesses. So, it’s the people that all make the difference, and I believe that stems from the top-down.
What’s your proudest achievement while at Interleasing?
I’m proud to be bringing the National Relationship Officer team together and watching their relationships grow stronger whilst also seeing more collaboration within my team as well as across other departments.
What was your first job?
Working for a Minister, under the John Fahey government. I was the youngest secretary in politics ever!
What inspires you?
First and foremost, my family! I want to be a role model for my children and show them that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. I try to teach them that you’ve got to love what you do and to find something that brings that joy for them. I’m also inspired by my team and colleagues. I strive to be a role model for them and to be the best I can be.
